Marsabit National Park

Mount Marsabit, a 1700m high extinct vulcano, is a green oasis surrounded by dusty desert in all directions. A Noahs Ark, some would argue, and obviously lake Paradise was associated with something otherworldly when being named. There are several beautiful crater lakes on Mount Marsabit and the rainforest on the mountain is a refuge for the wild animals in the region.

After breakfast we head north along the trans Africa highway to Marsabit an extinct Volcano heavily forested on the upper slopes. Set up camp and visit the lodge inside the National Park, see elephants buffalo ,greater Kudu among others as the lodge is perched on the edge of the water filled crater . Thick forest hampers deeper penetration and viewing so we don't penetrate further.Dinner and the overnight at the camp

Day 5-KARACHA-LAKE TURKANA-Early morning departure crossing the Chalbi desert. When wet, the desert can not be crossed and alternative routes to the south and north are used. Arrive at the campsite  Loiyangalani villange enjoying a cool breeze from the lake soon after lunch. Pitch tents and relax protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic of the harsh climate of this remote area.

Day 6-LAKE TURKANA.;-Relax and bath only to be interrupted by short boat excursion to visit the surrounding areas. also loiyangalani and the community settled there,

Loiyangalani Desert Museum was opened to the public on June 14, 2008. It is located in Loiyangalani town along the south-eastern shore of Lake Turkana. The name ‘Loiyangalani’ means “a place of many trees” in the native Samburu tongue.

Loiyangalani Desert Museum mirrors the cultures, history and lifestyles of the eight communities that live near the area: the El Molo, Samburu, Gabbra, Rendille, Waata, Daasannach, Pokot and Turkana. It also focuses on the natural environment on the eastern shore of Lake Turkana.
