2Days 1Night Nairobi to Lake Naivasha/ Hells Gate & Mt. Longonot Hikking Budget/Luxury Safari
Lake Naivasha-Situated only 100 kilometres from Nairobi (1 1/2 hours driving), Lake Naivasha has become a popular destination for weekend trips as people come to enjoy the tranquil surroundings and the varied birdlife. Also there is the option of visiting either Hells Gate National Park or Crescent island – a privately owned peninsula in lake Naivasha shaped like a crescent moon and now a game sanctuary where one can walk safely amongst zebras, gnus, giraffes, impalas and other wildlife, without the fear of dangerous African predators as there are none. There are a big population of hippos along the shore of Lake Naivasha but no crocodiles as the altitude (1900m above sea level) makes the water too cold for their liking. Lake Naivasha lies at the foot of Mount Longonot – a perfectly shaped Volcano and the lake was once flourishing with waterlillies and along its shores there were great papyrus swamps. Naivasha is a great place to spend some days away from the big city and there are many places to stay ranging from campsites where you can pitch your own tent.

Central Tower Gorge. The Central Tower Gorge is the main creek coming from the left hand side when you walk the Hell's Gate Gorge. because of flooding waters our guide will show you, pass this way. Do not go there without a guide. Fischer's Tower. A 25m-high volcanic column named after the German explorer, who reached the gorge in 1882. It's the starting point for a wide and deep valley surrounded by red rock walls. Zebras, Giraffe and warthog are seen in this 7km long strech leading to the Gorges.

Mt. Longonot Hikking-The trachytic Longonot stratovolcano SE of Lake Naivasha in the Gregory Rift valley contains a 8 x 12 km caldera. Formation of the caldera accompanied large explosive eruptions about 21,000 years ago. A large central cone that was constructed within the caldera forms the 2776-m-high summit of the volcano. The younger cone is truncated by a circular, 1.8-km-wide crater. Post-caldera lavas are found on the caldera floor and the volcano's flanks, marking a late stage of effusive eruptions. A well-preserved satellitic cone is located on the NE flank. Masai tradition records a lava flow on the northern flank during the 19th century. Similarly youthful-looking lava flows occur on the SW flank.
